From Mark Mulligan:

MEMORIES OF ISLANDFEST.... Hated to see the weekend end. What more could I ask for than to share the stage with the likes of visiting artists Brent Burns, Bob Karwin, Rob Mehl, and K.D. Moore, plus my San Carlos friends Bobby and Lesley Sahlen?  The weather was perfect, the food delicious, the views incredible, and most of all the folks we were singing for were simply wonderful. Thanks for making my visiting friends feel at home, San Carlos. Also to Dena Dority, who put over 150 hours of labor into making the IslandFest commemorative quilt, which we raffled off, helping the Castaway Kids to raise nearly 23, 500 pesos for the upcoming Christmas party for needy kids in Guaymas! And Sam Rainwater, who on Sunday donated his dune buggy to the Castaway Kids, also to raffle off with all funds going to the cause!
With Paradiso Resort running most of the event (and doing a great job on the meals!), I was able to spend more time than ever enjoying the event. Not only during the shows, but after hours when Bob Karwin, KD Moore and I broke out a guitar at the Ruby Wine Bar and led the crowd in singing some redneck tunes, bringing the Wine Bar to it's cultural low point (LOL)  Same thing Saturday, when all the artists crashed Bruce and Giggles famous "Bar Down in Mexico" in Loma del Mar, each singing a few songs that were never heard at the shows. Wow, what a night, unplanned and unplugged. Also enjoyed spending time with my friends from the Arizona Parrothead Club, who made their first visit to San Carlos. We spent Friday morning touring not only Guaymas and Miramar, but also the children's park built by the Castaway Kids. Took them through the barrio and up to where Adela and I got married.

Will never forget the huge conga line that ended Saturday night's show by the pool, or joining so many of you for cocktails, then sunset on the beach, following the Sunday show.  Took the musicians (and roadies) out for tacos at JJ's as a farewell to San Carlos. The event left me wiped out Monday morning, but already dreaming up plans for next year's event. But hey, there will be a lot more fun stuff coming up in the meantime, so stay tuned to this website OK?  And MUCHAS GRACIAS to all of you who help to support this annual tradition, including my sponsors Marine Mart, Long Realty Seaside, and Sonoran Sports Center....Paradiso Resort....the musicians, sound and light crew....and most of all of you guys!

Now I've got some new CDs to listen to, plus some brand new shirts from a bunch of my favorite artists. See, I love these events too!
